The Oyo State Government has announced Monday, September 14, 2026, as the commencement date for the 2026/2027 academic session across schools in the state.

‎The government disclosed this via its official X handle, directing all public and private schools to commence the full academic programme from the first day of each term in accordance with the approved school calendar.

‎It also directed schools to observe all public holidays as may be declared by the Federal and State Governments, while warning that strict adherence to the approved 2026/2027 academic calendar is mandatory.

‎The government warned that any school found contravening the approved school calendar would attract the prescribed penalty, urging school authorities to ensure full compliance with the stipulated academic dates.

‎It further stated that schools operating international curricula and wishing to adopt academic dates outside the approved 2026/2027 academic calendar must apply for calendar flexibility in line with the prescribed guidelines.
