The court accepted the oral confessional statement made by Lamidi, which was obtained by the Nigerian Police Monitoring Unit in Iyaganku, Ibadan.
Lamidi’s defense counsel, Olalekan Ojo, SAN, previously argued that the confessional statement was not made voluntarily and was extracted under unfavourable conditions.
It’s important to note that Lamidi faces a 17-count charge that includes armed robbery, murder, attempted murder, and illegal possession of firearms.
He was arrested in 2024 and subsequently charged by the Oyo State Government regarding allegations of armed robbery and murder linked to incidents that occurred in Eruwa, within the Ibarapa East Local Government Area.
The prosecution alleges that Lamidi and his associates were involved in violent conflicts related to transport union disputes, which resulted in the death of a victim during one of the attacks.
In her ruling, Justice Adebisi Adetujoye found the oral confessional statement admissible as evidence, ruling in favour of the prosecution.
The trial was adjourned due to the absence of the investigating officer.
