The Hausa Community, otherwise known as Arewa in Oyo State has declared its full support for the reelection of Governor ‘Seyi Makinde in 2023.

This was as the ally of the governor, Otunba Seye Famojuro paid a courtesy visit to the office of the leader of Arewa/Hausa Community in Oyo State, Alhaji Danladi Garuba, at Sabo, Mokola, Ibadan.

Danladi who spoke on behalf of the entire community in Oyo State declared their allegiance to Gov. ‘Seyi Makinde and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying that he has been fair to all tribes and religions in the state in terms of the distribution of infrastructural development, appointments and his sterling performance at the helms of affairs.

He added that the Arewa/Hausa Community will embark on mass movement across the state to woo all their members for PDP and ‘Seyi Makinde.

Danladi further noted that the entire community in all the 33 local government areas remained supportive of the present administration of Makinde, reiterating that any position contrary to that does not in any way represent the decision of the community.

He said: “As Hausa Community, we have every reason to declare our support for Governor ‘Seyi Makinde. He has done wonders in the state. His leadership style is second to none, he has brought about tremendous developments in all critical sectors of the state.

“We are impressed with the manner he handled the Sasha incident of 2020. He has rebuilt the market and given our members what belonged to them.

“For several months, Sabo which is our largest business community in the state had no power supply for months, we went to those in APC including Ibadan North House of Representatives member, Akinremi Jagaban who turned us down.

“But when the matter was brought before our own Otunba Seye Famojuro, his intervention yielded result as our amiable Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde released the needed N10 million to us and our light was restored and our businesses were brought to life.

“Governor ‘Seyi Makinde also gave us two buses at Sabo Central Mosque, a feat that has not been achieved before by any administration”, he added.

On his part, a staunch supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who has now denounced his membership of the opposition party, Alhaji Farouk Abdulmumi, the Sarkin Samouri Bodija said Otunba Seye’s intervention during a crisis at Bodija made all Hausas at the market to declare support for Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, adding that Otunba’s effort restored peace and tranquillity to the popular market and justice was well served.

Farouk however, said that he and his supporters had burnt their brooms and embraced the umbrella party and vowed to deliver bloc votes for Makinde in 2023.

In his remarks, Otunba Seye Famojuro said the visit to the Sabo community was to appreciate the Arewa/Hausa Community for their support for the administration of Governor ‘Seyi Makinde and the Peoples Democratic Party.

He however reiterated Makinde’s position that every tribe has the right to reside in any part of the state and that the present administration has created a conducive environment for businesses to thrive. He added that the governor will continue to promote peaceful co-existence among all ethnic groups in the state.

While thanking them for endorsing the Governor for a second term, he promised to donate a motorised borehole in his capacity to the community within the next ten days.

He promised that there would be continuous engagements with the Arewa/Hausa community, to accommodate all their members across the state.

In the meantime, prominent leaders and stakeholders of the Arewa/Hausa Community were in attendance to receive Otunba Seye Famojuro among who was the Special Assistant to the Governor on Arewa Community, among others.
