Seyi Makinde Volunteer and The Omituntun Initiative in the Diaspora (OID) are partnering with the Oyo State Ministry of Health to organize a one-day free medical outreach event. This event is part of an effort to improve the health and wellbeing of the citizens of Oyo State.

The event, which will be held on December 17 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm at the Lekan Salami Adamasingba Stadium in Mokola, Ibadan, will offer a range of services including blood pressure and sugar level checks, dental services, eye tests, general body checkups, and other supplementary exercises.

According to OID spokesperson Barrister Ayotomiwa Adebayo, healthcare is an important part of democracy, as it takes healthy citizens to make well-informed decisions about who should govern the state. The free medical outreach is one way of supporting the Oyo State governor, Dr. Seyi Makinde, in his efforts to provide sustainable healthcare access to the state’s citizens.

Adebayo emphasised that various trained medical practitioners, healthcare professionals, dieticians, and nutritionists led by Dr Olufemi Olowookere’s team in conjunction with medical experts in the Oyo State Ministry of Health will be on the ground to provide free medical services to the needy which include men, women, youths, elderly, expectant mothers among others.

Dentists, ophthalmologists, and opticians will also be attending the event to provide dental care and visual impairment services, including free tests and eyeglasses for those in need.

Seyi Makinde Volunteer and OID are organizations committed to supporting Governor Makinde’s inclusive governance efforts and his healthcare policy, and hope that the free medical outreach event will help improve the health and wellbeing of the citizens of Oyo State.

“The main purpose for the outreach is to touch lives by providing basic health education for patients to take control of their health and to offer free healthcare consultation services with free medicines to those who cannot afford routine general medical check-ups or treatment,” the spokesperson said
