The Oyo State Government has officially commenced online registration for the 2025/2026 General Bursary Awards, targeting eligible final-year students of Oyo State origin studying in public higher institutions across Nigeria.

According to the Oyo State Scholarship Board on X on Thursday, registration opened on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, and will close on Monday, November 2, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. West Africa time.

Eligible applicants are advised to visit the official portal at https://bursary.oyostate.gov.ng/2026/ to complete their applications before the deadline.

The bursary scheme is designed to provide financial support to final-year students as they complete their academic programmes.

Categories covered include university undergraduates, Higher National Diploma (HND) students, National Certificate in Education (NCE) students, as well as those in clinical, aviation, and maritime programmes.

Final-year law students are, however, excluded from this particular general bursary award.

To qualify, applicants must be indigenes of Oyo State, enrolled in a Nigerian public tertiary institution, and not studying on a part-time basis or overseas.

Prospective beneficiaries are required to provide the following documents during registration:
Admission Letter
Local Government Identification Letter
Students’ Registration/Course Form (endorsed by the Head of Department)
Valid commercial bank account details belonging to the applicant
Recent passport photograph
Proof of membership of the Federation of Oyo State Student Union (FOSSU)

Applicants have been urged to ensure that all information supplied is accurate and consistent with their supporting documents.

The Scholarship Board warned that late applications will not be entertained once the portal closes.

Students can begin the process by visiting the official website, preparing the required documents, completing the online form, uploading the necessary files, and saving their application confirmation and reference number for future status checks.

The initiative forms part of the Oyo State Government’s ongoing efforts to ease the financial burden on students and promote educational advancement among its indigenes.
