1. Iyake Suspended Lake: A suspended lake is described as a lake found on top of a mountain. Iyake Suspended Lake is the only Suspended Lake in Africa and the second recognised Suspended Lake in the world. The lake is suspended on Oke Ado, a large hill in Ado-Awaye town in Oyo State. The exact depth of Iyake Lake is unknown. It is believed that none who enters the lake ever returns and if one puts their foot in the hole near the lake known as Agbómofúnyàké (“collects child and gives to iyake”) when it’s filled with water, the person will be dragged to the bottom. It is also said that the Lake’s water cure ailments and diseases when used to bathe.

2. Agodi Gardens: Located in Ibadan, the Capital of Oyo State, Agodi Zoological and Botanical Gardens, as it was formerly called was created in 1967. The garden was destroyed by the Ogunpa flood disaster in 1980. It was renovated and reopened in 2012 and 2014 respectively. Agodi Garden is a recreational centre that provides a refreshing break from city life due to its peaceful ambience and serenity. The Garden has a Water Park, a Lake, a Mini Zoo, a Play Area and Rides for children, and a Picnic Garden.

3. Bowers Tower and Museum: A visit to Bowers Tower and Museum is like stepping back in time. Constructed in 1936, this impressive tower stands as a tribute to Captain Robert Lister Bower, the first British resident in Ibadan. Bower’s Tower is located on top of Oke-Are, the highest hill in Ibadan, from which one enjoys a commanding view of the city. The tower is 60 feet high and 11 feet square with two entrances and a spiral staircase that leads to the top of the tower. When you visit the Tower, make sure you climb to the peak of the tower to enjoy the beautiful views of the cityscape.

4. UI Zoological Garden: The University of Ibadan Zoological Garden was established in 1948 primarily to support teaching and research in the Department of Zoology. Soon the animal collection grew in numbers and diversities until it became a full-fledged Zoo in 1974. It is mainly for conservation, education and entertainment purposes. The garden has now been stocked with new and more species of animals. Animals are grouped in different sections of the zoo. Sections in the garden include the Avian, Herbivore, Carnivore, Reptile, Primate and small animal sections.

5. Old Oyo National Park: If you are a Nature enthusiast and Wildlife lover, a visit to Old Oyo National Park is a must. This expansive park is home to diverse ecosystems, including savannah grasslands, dense forests, and meandering rivers.
